2016 Gotham Independent Award Winners Revealed

The 26th Annual Gotham Independent Awards took place Monday, November 28th, 2016 at Cipriani Wall Street.  Presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the awards are designed to recognize and champion the future of storytelling.  While slightly outside the pool of contenders for the Academy Award race, the Gotham Independent Awards have predicted the best picture race for the past two years.

Hosted by Keegan-Michael Key, the evening quickly became a triumph for Barry Jenkins and his critically acclaimed coming-of-age story “Moonlight” – the film took home four awards, including Best Feature and Best Screenplay.  Casey Affleck’s turn in “Manchester by the Sea” received the Best Actor trophy, while French actress Isabelle Huppert received the Best Actress award for “Elle.”
