Casting Society Of America To Present Annette Bening with Lynn Stalmaster Award

The Casting Society of America (CSA) has announced the recipient of the Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement.  The 2017 honoree is Annette Bening, a stage and screen actor/producer who's performances on screen and stage have resulted in numerous awards and four Academy Award nominations.  Bening will be presented the award at the CSA's annual Artios Award Ceremony, taking place January 19, 2017, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

The CSA recognizes career achievement by looking at an individual’s overall contribution to the entertainment industry.  Bening’s extensive list of credits have made a distinguished mark in cinema, culture and casting. Respected as well as established, Including Bening's  Oscar nominated turns in “The Kids Are All Right,” “Being Julia,” “American Beauty” and “The Grifters,” she is a two-time Golden Globe winner (“Being Julia” and “The Kids Are All Right”) a BAFTA Award and Screen Actors Guild Award winner for best actress in “American Beauty” and a 2006 Emmy Award nominee for her role in “Mrs. Harris.”  Her other screen credits include “Bugsy,” “The American President,” and “Open Range.” In 2016, Bening co-stars in Warren Beatty’s “Rules Don’t Apply” and also plays the lead role in director Mike Mills’ “20th Century Women” from A24, for which she has already been nominated for a Gotham and Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress. Past recipients of the CSA Career Achievement Award include Ben Affleck, Quentin Tarantino, Norman Lear, David E. Kelly, Danny Boyle and others.

During the Los Angeles ceremony, Casting Director Nina Gold will receive the Hoyt Bowers Award, while at the New York Ceremony hosted by Michael Urie, The Public Theater will receive the Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award.  The CSA will also pay tribute to casting director Marion Dougherty by having her name precede the New York Apple Award.   She and Lynn were both the focus of ‘Casting By’, the HBO documentary on the history of the profession.
