The Criterion Group, in association with Loews Hotels & Resorts, is pleased to announce a first-of-its-kind event in Los Angeles: a day long symposium highlighting the efforts of the film and television industry’s finest hair and makeup stylists. “Hair and Makeup By… A Symposium of Film and Television Artists” will be taking place at Loews Hollywood Sunday, September 27th, 2015.
The symposium will kick off the day with panels focused on issues affecting on set hair and makeup creation, including “The Makeup Artist” – an informal chat between A-lister artisans Vera Steimberg (Guardians of the Galaxy), Beverly Jo Pryor (Empire), Tym Buacharern (House of Lies) and Melanie Hughes-Weaver (Pitch Perfect 2) will discuss how they conceive, creating and influence on camera looks, “The Hair Artist” where top stylists Camille Friend (Hunger Games-Mockingjay 1 &II), Gail Ryan (Dancing with the Stars), Nina Paskowitz (Iron Man), Melissa Forney (Empire) and Daniel Curet (Sleepy Hollow) will discuss what it takes to be a sought after hair stylist in a competitive industry, and “The Star Clippers” where barber stylists including Stacey Morris (Black-ish), Pierce Austin (Focus) and Conrad Hilton (Jamie Foxx personal stylist) will discuss how they incorporate their skills and personalities within the hair community whether working solo, collaboratively or sharing clientele.
Attendees will also have the ability to participate one of six hands-on workshops. The workshops include: “The Art of Lashes, Lips and Liners” presented by Vera Steimberg, “The Ladies of Empire” presented by Beverly Jo Pryor and Melissa Forney, “The Star Clippers and the Art of the Clip” presented by Pierce Austin, Stacey Morris and Conrad Hilton, “The Art of Hair” presented by Camille Friend, “From Music Video and Tours to TV and Film – The Art of Makeup” presented by Tym Buacharern and “Organically Oscar – The Art of Natural, Award-Winning Hair” presented by Nina Paskowitz and Gail Ryan.
The event will be capped by a networking mixer where the panelists, attendees and sponsors including Variety, Variety 411 and Red Rhino as well as Makeup and Hairtylist Local 706 are invited to enjoy a hosted reception featuring light appetizers and beverages. The networking mixer will be hosted by MAC Cosmetics.
Hair and Makeup By … has created an event aimed at allowing individuals to participate in as many activates as possible by providing a number of ticket breakdowns. Individuals are able to purchase an all-day pass, a workshop only pass, panel only pass, panel/mixer pass or mixer only pass. Those who register before August 1st will receive a discount of $100 off any pass package.
