Winners Of The 22nd Annual SDSA Annual Awards

The Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) presented their annual awards recognizing excellence in set decoration and contributions to the art of set decoration at the SDSA 22nd Annual Awards Luncheon March 15th, 2015.

Legendary set decorator Audrey Blasdel-Goddard received the Earl Cooperman Lifetime Achievement Award  for her artistic contributions and her tireless work toward the advancement and recognition of set decorators and women in the entertainment industry.

Additional awards included the SDSA Chair to set decorators and business members who have gone above and beyond in service to the organization; the SDSA Chair Hold Tag for continued outstanding service; the SDSA Hall of Fame which this year recognized retiring members of the Warner Bros Property Department Ronnie Wexler and John Rettino as well as Independent Studio Services’ Linda Montana. The Business Member Of the Year Award went to FormDecor Furniture Rental in recognition for exceptional contributions to the SDSA.

This year’s Leslie Frankenheimer Scholarships in honor of the eponymous SDSA set decorator and SDSA Community Outreach Chair Emeritus, were awarded to Alejandra Moreno who studies molecular biology at UC Berkeley and Nicolas de Soto-Foley who is studying film at Wesleyan, Connecticut. Each recipient receives a $2,500 scholarship underwritten by Lennie Marvin’s Prop Heaven and Faux Library Studio Rentals.

A highlight of the yearly event is the Silent Art Auction for Charity. SDSA members donate art – in many cases pieces they have created themselves – and vie to outbid each other for charity. This year’s selected charity was LAGoal, which empowers adults with developmental disabilities to live healthy, productive and independent lives.
